a chatbot that actually has feelings (kinda) - LÖVE chatbot

built an emotional chatbot in LÖVE2D this week and it turned out way more expressive than i expected. its not some giant ai model, its a custom bot that reads the emotional tone of what you type, sadness, hope, insults, that kind of thing, and responds accordingly. and the whole thing is wrapped in these fun little visual touches

thats where it gets fun honestly. it simulates typing with the classic dot dot dot before it replies so it feels alive, and when you send a message theres flying letters and slash effects animating across the screen. i wanted it to FEEL like youre talking to something with a personality instead of reading flat text in a box. the emotion detection is keyword based, nothing fancy, but pairing it with the animation makes it land way harder than the logic alone would

i think this is a good example of how i approach stuff, the actual nlp here is simple, but the presentation is where i spend my time. a plain chatbot is boring, a chatbot that looks like its emoting at you with flying letters is delightful. its the same instinct as the cozy music player, the tech can be modest as long as the vibe is strong
