a bunch of little games in a row - coinage, fallclicker, pollocks

sometimes instead of one giant project i just go on a spree of little games, and this stretch was exactly that. first Coinage, a gumball-machine coin game where you drop a coin in the slot, roll it, and get random items back, using coins to roll for more. it doesnt sound like much but it actually pushed me to really learn löve's box2d physics properly, getting the coin to drop and settle and feel physical took real work.

then FallClicker, which is a cozy autumn clicker game about a maple leaf. you click the leaf for points, spend coins to add stuff to the map for bigger multipliers, and eventually unlock a whole new map. classic clicker dopamine loop but wrapped in this warm falling-leaves aesthetic (i even built an ingame tutorial for it). and pollocks, which is a totally different vibe, an asteroids-inspired parallax gamespace with an infinitely generating barren starscape you just throttle around and shoot through. more of a mood than a game, honestly, just vibing in space.

i think these little games are underrated in my own head. i sometimes feel like everything has to be a Big Serious Engine project, but banging out a coin game or a clicker or a space drifter in a few days keeps me loose and reminds me that games are supposed to be FUN to make, not just impressive. a lot of these ended up on my itch page and honestly theyre some of the most-played things ive done. small and finished beats big and abandoned every time
