starting my biggest game yet - tales of orbis

Date : 28-07-2025

okay this is the big one. started tales-of-orbis today and its easily the most ambitious game ive ever attempted. the pitch is you play as orbis, formed from the ashes of god, trying to reach the core and escape Null before the Dawn Lights get you. its an rpg with actual story, custom engine systems, the whole thing, all in löve

ive been building toward this for YEARS without realizing it. every physics experiment, every ui library, every tiny tool, it all feeds into being able to make something this size. i finally feel like i have the skills to build a real game with depth instead of just a demo. but the scope is genuinely scary lmao, an rpg is like ten games in a trenchcoat, dialogue systems, progression, zones, combat, a narrative that actually holds together

i know this is gonna take months and theres gonna be points where i want to quit because the scope is crushing. but i also know this is THE project, the one i actually care about finishing. building a whole world that people can step into is the reason i got into game dev in the first place, all the way back to those roblox obbies. this is that same feeling but scaled up to everything ive learned since
