winpedia is easily one of my most ridiculous ideas and i mean that as the highest compliment. its a social media app, but its themed around WINTER, and the whole gimmick is your status physically depends on how much you post. dont post for the day? you stay frozen. post less than twice a day? you start to melt. post more than twice? youre finally, gloriously melted. theres even winter snow that shows up after a while

i built it because i think most social media "engagement mechanics" are kind of sinister, so i wanted to make a version that was openly, absurdly gamified about it. instead of hiding the "post more!!" pressure behind dark patterns, winpedia just makes it the literal plot. youre a little frozen thing trying to melt your way out through sheer posting. its dumb and honest and i love it. built it as a full stack typescript app

theres a real idea buried in the joke though, which is that all these apps ARE just systems designed to make you post, and dressing that up as a silly winter survival mechanic makes it visible in a way a normal feed never would. also it was just really fun to build the melting states and the snow. not every project needs to be Serious, sometimes you just make the frozen social media app because the idea made you laugh
